Frank
Guivarra - Chairperson
Frank has been involved with VALS for many years. As well as being
the VALS Chairperson, he holds the position of Deputy Chairperson
of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services
Secretariat (NAILSS) and Chairperson of the Australian Legal Assistance
Forum. He represents NAILSS at the United Nations in Geneva and
New York. Frank's concern for, and involvement in, Human Rights
issues means that he attends forums and conferences, both nationally
and internationally. This active involvement includes: the Permanent
Forum of Indigenous Issues; the Working Group on Indigneous Populations;
the Working Group on the Draft Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous
Peoples; and the World Conference Against Racism. He has, on a number
of occasions, been elecetd Co-chairperson of the International Indigenous
Caucus at these important UN meetings. Currently employed at Victorian
Aboriginal Community Services Association Limited (VACSAL), Frank
has extensive experience in the fields of Industrial Relations and
Human Resource Management.
Lorraine
(Bunta) Patten - Secretary
Lorraine is a Gunditjmara woman. She has been a VALS board member
in the past, and was also an ATSIC Regional Councillor for 5 years.
Lorraine has recently retired from the position of manager of the
Gladys Nicholls Hostel in Northcote.
Des
Morgan - Director
Des is a Yorta Yorta man. He has been active in Aboriginal
affairs since 1984, having served on the Boards of various local
and state organisations, such as VALS, Aboriginal Advancement League,
VACSAL, and VALEAI. Des was an ATSIC Regional Councillor for 6 years,
as well as the Chair of Referenda Corp (Echuca) for several years.
Des is a member of the Yorta Yorta Nations Aboriginal Coporation.
Robert
(Jumbo) Pearce - Director
Terrie
Stewart - Director
Terrie has been involved with VALS for a number of years, both as
an employee, and as a Board member. She has held positions within
VALS such as Financial Counsellor, Officer Manager, Client Service
Officer and Team Leader. Terrie has previously worked for the Bert
Williams Aboriginal Youth Support Unit and ATSIC. Terrie is currently
employed by the Department of Human Services as a Juvenile Justice
worker.

Alf
Bamblett
Alf was
the first ATSIC Commissioner elected for Victoria in 1992. He has
worked tirelessly in the area of Aboriginal Affairs for over twenty
years, serving on many local, state and national Committees.
