If you are unhappy with the decision made by VALS staff about your application for legal assistance, you may appeal that decision.

1. Put your concerns in writing. A Client Service Officer at VALS can help you with this. You may wish to obtain a VALS Appeal Form from the Melbourne office. Send your letter to the Review Officer at VALS who will examine your case. You should make your appeal within 3 months of the VALS decision.
2. If you are unhappy with the Review Officer's decision, you can put your concerns to the Appeals Panel of VALS. This Panel consists of a VALS staff lawyer together with two independent people from outside VALS. Again, it is best to put it in writing.
