In March 2026, Senator Malarndirri McCarthy requested that the Commonwealth government conduct an inquiry into racism, hate and violence directed at First Nations people. This was following recent mass public violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including the attack on Camp Soverignty in Naarm and the attempted terrorism attack at the Boorloo Invasion Day rally.
VALS wants to make sure all Aboriginal people who want to engage with the inquiry are supported to do so. VALS is supporting mob by:
- Hosting drop-in sessions at VALS offices, where our team can help support you in making your own submission.
