On this page: This page outlines what you can do if you are being bullied online or at school.
Bullying online or at school
Bullying is an ongoing or repeated misuse of power in relationships, with the intention to cause deliberate (on purpose) psychological harm. Bullying behaviours can be verbal, physical or social.
Bullying can happen anywhere – at home, online, with friends, in a group, on the bus or at school.
Sometimes bullying is also a form of discrimination. When that is the case, the Commission may be able to help.
Bullying can be discrimination if it is happening in an area of public life, such as work or school, and if it is directed at someone because of a personal characteristic protected by the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, such as:
- gender identity
- sexual orientation
