Other Koori owned and controlled agencies may also be in attendance in the courtroom to offer support. 

The process is conversational and everyone is encouraged to take part in a sentencing conversation by having a yarn, and to not use complex legal language. 

The Aboriginal Elders and other respected persons are allowed to provide cultural advice to help the magistrate make a judgment. 

The judgment seeks to be culturally appropriate. 

Seeks to reduce the likelihood of reoffending.
