Koorie Youth Council
The Koorie Youth Council (KYC) is the representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in Victoria. Guided by an Executive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and our state-wide members, KYC values the diversity and strength of young people as decision-makers. KYC advocates to government and community to advance the rights and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. By hosting events like the annual Koorie Youth Summit, KYC brings Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people together to amplify their voices for social change.
About the Role
The Office Manager oversees KYC’s administrative, HR, and operational systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations. This role provides executive support, manages key projects, supervises the operations Coordinator (1 direct report), and supports HR processes and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive and administrative support to KYC Leadership and governance structures.
- Lead and mentor the operations Coordinator (1 direct report).
- Maintain and improve administrative systems, including finance, HR, reporting, and OH&S compliance.
- Oversee office operations, including assets, equipment, and supplies.
- Lead and support the Admin Assistant, fostering continuous improvement.
- Manage HR administration, onboarding, performance reviews, and staff wellbeing initiatives.
- Promote a culturally safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace.
- Track team performance, provide guidance, and support professional development.
- Organise workflows, manage projects, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support events, meetings, and regional/interstate travel as required.
About You
- Knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal communities, particularly youth.
- Experience in office management or senior administration, including financial oversight.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.
- Understanding of youth participation frameworks and child-safe practices.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and regional travel.
