Supports & Referrals
VALS supports clients when they interact with the Victorian justice system.
We provide culturally safe and holistic support to ensure that client needs are met beyond legal service provision alone.
VPer: Victoria Police e-referral (VPer)
The VALS VPer Program Officer plays a crucial role in assisting community members with non-custody issues. VPer referrals are consented referrals during non-crisis incidents but are often received at a time of heightened emotional stress for clients.
When a notification is received VALS extends support to the individual.
The V-PER program coordinates culturally safe and holistic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients at critical moments. By maintaining strong relationships with police, ACCOs and other agencies, the program ensures that clients receive culturally relevant services that align with their needs and preferences.
