Balit Ngulu provides holistic legal support and case management for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people that come into contact with the legal system.
Balit Ngulu is our dedicated legal practice for Aboriginal children and young people. This team provides legal advice and representation for clients in criminal proceedings and intervention order matters, as well as where child protection, or a s18 authorised service are involved. Balit Ngulu is designed to be trauma informed and provide holistic wraparound culturally safe support for our youngest clients.
Balit Ngulu’s Strong Voice, Strong Futures program works with young people involved with or at risk of involvement with the legal system by providing personalised education and/or employment pathway planning, support and coordination.
Balit Ngulu also has the Disability Advice Response Team (DART) program in partnership with Melbourne City Mission to assist young people who come into Marram-Ngala Ganbu or contact with the criminal division and may have a disability, the program steps in to assist with screening, assessment and if needed, support through NDIS process.
